  • Hindu Heritage Month Celebrations - November 2020

In December 2016, through an Act embedded in Bill 56, The Province of Ontario proclaimed the month of November as Hindu Heritage Month in recognition of the immense contributions that Hindu Canadians have made across all fields of endeavor in the Province.

Diwali Fireworks Exemption Granted in Mississauga - 2017

Fireworks Regulations
As per the City's Fireworks By-law, residents must be aware of the following regulations:
  • Fireworks may only be set off on Statutory Holidays such as Victoria Day, Canada Day, Chinese New Year, Diwali or on a day for which a permit has been issued by the Fire Chief and only on the property listed within the permit.

Disposition of Cremation Ashes at Pickering Site

The Hindu Federation met on July 22, 2015 with representatives from the City of Pickering, the Town of Ajax, the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and the Toronto Region Conservation Authority to discuss an upgrade to the ashes disposition site at the foot of Squires Beach Road in Pickering.

Donation to Food Banks

According to recent statistics, each month, about 850,000 Canadians are assisted by Food Banks, and about 36% of those are children and youth. Those who are helped include families with children, employed people whose wages are not sufficient to cover basic living essentials, individuals on social assistance, and Canadians living on fixed income, including people with disabilities and seniors. About 64% of Food Bank users pay market rent.
