Ganesh Visarjan Celebrations

The Hindu Federation celebrated Ganesh Visarjan on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Alex Robertson Park in Pickering, Ontario. As was the case last year, the Plan for the event was very extensive, as it had to meet the stringent COVID-19 guidelines established by the Province of Ontario, before it was approved by the City of Pickering.


The following Hindu Federation member temples participated:

• Rameshwar Mandir
• Maha Rudra Dev Mandir
• Mississauga Ram Mandir
• Vishnu Mandir
• Vaishno Devi Temple
• Datta Yoga Centre
• Devi Mandir and
• Laxmi Narayan Mandir

Devotees from Jai Durga Mandir and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir were also in attendance.
Approximately 120 devotees turned out for the celebrations. They were divided into two groups, in order to comply with the limit of 100 persons for an outdoor event that was established by the Province of Ontario. Strict protocols were followed with respect to screening, sanitization, the wearing of masks, and social distancing, as devotees entered the Ceremony area to perform puja.
Each group then proceeded to the lake for the immersion of the murtis.
This event was the success that it was (despite the current pandemic) due to the perseverance of the participating member temples in meeting the very stringent requirements of the City of Pickering, as well as the hard work of the many volunteers.
