The Hindu Federation is pleased to offer the following services on a pro bono basis to member organizations. Please contact Pandit Roopnauth Sharma or Jay Jayaraman, should you wish to request any of these services.

The services will be provided by Hindu Federation members/volunteers who will adhere to strict confidentially protocols, including the signing of a Confidentially Agreement with the member organization to which the services will be provided.

Financial and taxation

• Assistance with respect to the following:
• Annual Financial Statement preparation
• Preparation for an annual Financial Statement audit
• Drafting of accounting policies
• Preparation and filing of the Charity Information Return
• Preparation for an audit by CRA
• Filing of the HST rebate claim

• Internal audit type services, including
• A review of accounting systems for each cycle (receipts, payments, payroll, etc.) to ensure that an adequate system of internal control exists
• Test of a sample of cash/cheque transactions to source documents, bank statements and tax receipts (where applicable) 
• Test of a sample of payments to underlying documentation for validity and approval and compliance with established policy

• Tax receipting
• Review tax receipt content to ensure compliance with CRA requirements
• Review of split receipting with respect to amounts charged for events
• Review of reconciliation of tax receipts to accounting records and amount included on Charity Information Return

A confidential report will be issued after each project. Such a report will include the scope, findings and recommendations arising out of the project.
