COVID-19 ASSISTANCE

The Hindu Federation would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Frontline Workers who are going over and beyond their duty to fight the COVID-19 virus.

The Hindu Federation, in collaboration with the Canada India Foundation, has taken an initiative to provide relief to those in need as a result of Covid-19.

We are currently offering a Delivery program during this unprecedented time.

The program is currently in the form of grocery packages and cooked food, which are being put together and distributed by a team of volunteers at the Mississauga Ram Mandir. We are providing more than food and groceries to our homebound seniors and international students who have been left to fend for themselves. We are providing hope.

With so many in our community left vulnerable, human interaction means a lot and this is being achieved through telephone conversations and the delivery program through the team of volunteers. The Hindu Federation encourages other members to join in offering volunteer assistance in your geographic areas. Please contact Pandit Roopnauth Sharma if you are able to provide assistance.

The areas currently being served include; Brampton, Mississauga, Etobicoke, Rexdale, Burlington and Scarborough, and we will be able to expand to other areas as the need arises. Segments of the population being served include Seniors and International Students.

This collaboration has been made possible through the foresight of Pandit Roopnauth Sharma, President of the Hindu Federation, and Anil Shah, Satish Thakkar and Pankaj Dave, executive members of the Canada India Foundation.

A website www.covid19-help.ca has been set up for this purpose. Those who require assistance can go to the “Home” page, then “Mandate”, then click on the link under “Cooked food and grocery delivery” and complete the few simple questions that will allow for tracking of needs and delivery requirements.

DONATIONS

Your monetary or grocery contributions will allow us to expand the program to more families who are in need. Your contributions will go directly towards the needs of all the isolated individuals in our community and, no matter how big or small, will help to create a stronger community.

All monetary donations over $10 will be eligible for a tax receipt from the Hindu Federation.
